O PROJECTO IREP EN KEMET FOI À UNIVERSIDADE DE VIÇOSA, MINAS GERAIS, BRASIL, APRESENTAR A SUA INVESTIGAÇÃO.
Com uma história de mais de 3000 anos, a civilização do Antigo Egito continua fascinando hoje em dia pela sua complexidade, riqueza cultural e beleza artística. No entanto, e ao contrário do que muitas vezes pensamos, há âmbitos que nos aproximam de forma insuspeitada da civilização egípcia e um deles é a chamada “cultura do vinho”.
‘IREP EN KEMET’ PROJECT: DOCUMENTING THE CORPUS OF WINE IN ANCIENT EGYPT

Presented are the research objectives of the project ‘Irep en Kemet’, Wine of Ancient Egypt, and the content of the website. This research project aims at documenting the complete corpus of wine in ancient Egypt and analysing the data (iconography, textual sources and artefacts) to unveil the importance of the ancient Egyptian wine culture legacy in the Mediterranean region.
With a conference entitled “Tutankhamun’s wines. The Project ‘Irep en Kemet’, Wine of Ancient Egypt”, Dr Maria Rosa Guasch Jané, the project director, was in Peralada to present the project and the research developed by the team.
On the 4th of November 2016, Maria Rosa Guasch Jané will present the project paper entitled “An Interdisciplinary Study on the Ancient Egyptian Wines: the Egywine Project” at the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL HERITAGE EUROMED 2016 in Nicosia (Cyprus). The conference is organized by the Cyprus University of Technology and the European Commission, among others.
El passat dia 13 de març de 2014, la Dra. Maria Rosa Guasch Jané, directora del projecte "Irep en Kemet, el vi de l'antic Egipte", va presentar una sessió del curs “El món del vi. Nutrició i tecnologia alimentària aplicades al vi i a la cuina”, dins del cicle Gaudir UB (Gaudir UB. El món del vi).
On the 26th of August 2015, the ‘Irep en Kemet’, Wine of Ancient Egypt, research project director, Dr. Maria Rosa Guasch Jané, has presented the oral communication entitled “The complete corpus of viticulture and winemaking scenes from the ancient Egyptian private tombs” in the INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF EGYPTOLOGISTS XI, held in Florence (Italy) from the 23rd to the 30th of August 2015.

O PROJECTO WINE OF ANCIENT EGYPT/ IREP EN KEMET FOI APRESENTADO NAS JORNADAS JOVENS EM INVESTIGAÇÃO ARQUEOLÓGICA DO ANO 2011, CELEBRADAS EN FARO.
RESUMO: A mais vasta e antiga documentação sobre viticultura e produção de vinho provém do Antigo Egipto. Imagens de viticultura e de enologia foram representadas nas paredes dos túmulos privados desde o Império Antigo (2575 – 2150 A.C.) até ao período Greco-Romano. O vinho era um produto de prestígio consumido maioritariamente pelas classes altas e pela família real e era oferecido nos templos pelos Sacerdotes e pelo Faraó. Desde o período Pré-Dinástico (4000 - 3100 A.C.) que as ânforas de vinho eram colocadas nos túmulos egípcios como oferendas funerárias.
THE PROJECT "IREP EN KEMET" AT THE KNOWLEDGE FAIR 2014 AT BERGA, CATALONIA
The project was presented at the Knowledge Fair 2014, at Berga, as part of the Unitat d’Estudis i Recerca en Ciència i Cuina (UERCC), Campus de l'Alimentació/Food Campus of the University of Barcelona (UB). During the 3rd and 4th of April we have presented our research to 800 students from all Catalonia visiting the fair.
On the 27th of May 2016 Maria Rosa Guasch Jané has presented the lecture entitled “The Irep en Kemet Project: Study of the ancient Egyptian wine culture through the archaeological evidences” to the Asociación Española de Farmacéuticos de la Indústria (AEFI), an audience of pharmacists working on the pharmaceutical laboratories in Spain.
The presentation has focussed on the study of the ancient Egyptian wine culture through an interdisciplinary research involving chemical analyses of archaeological samples, the study of the ancient Egyptian wine types, the wine symbolism and burial rituals in royal tombs, and the study of iconographical and textual sources related to wine production.
The ‘Irep en Kemet’ project website addressed to the scientific and non-scientific community was also presented.
With a conference entitled “Culture and symbolism of wine in ancient Egypt. The wines of the burial chamber of Tutankhamun”, Dr Maria Rosa Guasch Jané, was part of the 2014-2015 continuing education course of Paleopathology organized by the Catalan and Balearic association of paleopathologists.

PHOTOGRAPHIC MISION TO THE PRIVATE TOMBS WITH VITICULTURE AND WINEMAKING SCENES IN UPPER EGYPT
Last July 2013 a photographic mission was carried out in Luxor, Aswan and Sohag archaeological sites, in Upper Egypt, with the authorization of the Egyptian Supreme Council for Antiquities. The goal was to photograph the ancient Egyptian private tombs with viticulture and winemaking scenes that the team has identified during the previous months on the bibliographic and archives research.
PHOTOGRAPHIC MISION TO THE PRIVATE TOMBS WITH VITICULTURE AND WINEMAKING SCENES IN MIDDLE EGYPT
The “Irep en Kemet” Project has accomplished, between the 24th and the 28th November 2013, the second phase of the photographic mission to record all the Egyptian private tombs with viticulture and winemaking scenes. This time Mahmoud Ibrahim, head of the mission, and Mr Ahmed Amin Abdel-Rahim, photograph of the Supreme Council of Antiquities working at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, went to Middle Egypt to Asiut, Miniya and Beni Sueif to photograph the tombs located there. A total of 12 tombs were photograph. This work is being done with the authorization of the Egyptian Supreme Council for Antiquities.

PHOTOGRAPHIC MISION TO THE PRIVATE TOMBS WITH VITICULTURE AND WINEMAKING SCENES IN LOWER EGYPT
In December 2013, Mahmoud Ibrahim and Mr Ahmed Amin Abdel-Rahim, photograph of the Supreme Council of Antiquities working at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, went to Lower Egypt (Giza Governorate), to accomplish the third photographic mission of the the “Irep en Kemet” Project.
On the 8th of June 2017, the National TV of Japan (NHK) came to the Scientific and Technical Services of the Parc Científic of the Universitat de Barcelona to interview Maria Rosa Guasch Jané for the “Discover King Tutankhamun” documentary. In this tv interview, she explained her research study of the colour of Tutankhamun’s wines.
The day before NHK TV filmed in the Loxarel winery at the Penedès area, which is specialized in amphora wines.
Filmed in different locations such as Egypt, Oxford and Milan, “Discover King Tutankhamun” will be broadcasted in Japan in November 2017.

PROJECT PRESENTATION AT THE KNOWLEDGE FAIR 2014 AT BERGA, CATALONIA
During the next two days (3rd and 4th of April 2014) the project “Study of the viticulture and oenology in Ancient Egypt” from Unitat d’Estudis i Recerca en Ciència i Cuina (UERCC), Campus de l'Alimentació/Food Campus of the Universitat de Barcelona will be displayed at the Knowledge Fair (Fira del Coneixement 2014), in a stand at the Swedish Pavilion.

Irep en Kemet (El vino del antiguo Egipto), es un proyecto de la Universidade Nova de Lisboa, financiado por la Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia de Portugal (PTDC/HIS-ARQ/112562/2009), cuyo objetivo principal es documentar y analizar la iconografía de viticultura y enología presente en las tumbas privadas del antiguo Egipto.
LA VITICULTURA Y LA ENOLOGÍA EN EL ANTIGUO EGIPTO: ESTUDIO DE LAS ESCENAS PRESENTES EN LAS PAREDES DE LAS TUMBAS.
El pasado día 28 de noviembre de 2013, el equipo del Proyecto "Irep en Kemet" participó en el XI Congreso de Museos del vino de España. La presentación “La viticultura y la enología en el antiguo Egipto: estudio de las escenas presentes en las paredes de las tumbas” estuvo a cargo de Maria Rosa Guasch y Sofia Fonseca. Los objetivos principales eran presentar el proyecto y dar a conocer la página web del proyecto patrocinada por el Vinseum, Museu de les cultures del vi de Catalunya, entidad organizadora del evento.
